Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on 17 April 1972. William John Garner worked as a chemist for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. So that she could follow the footsteps of her father she obtained a degree in chemical engineering. Since she wanted to be an actress, she went into New York. While appearing in Broadway shows, she was employed as waitress. She was in a minor part in the film "Felicity" (where she first came into contact with Scott Foley). Garner made her breakthrough in the action film "Alias." Her first leading role was the highly acclaimed love story "13 Thirty-something." She portrayed the role of a teenager caught locked in the body a 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her movie. The team continued to look for projects until Winick's death in the year 2011. Garner was made an ambassador for artists to Save the Children U.S.A. Alongside the promotion of the importance of early education, literacy and nutrition on a local level, the role of Garner is also to promote national literacy. Garner is a board member as a member of the board since 2014, is an advocate for the cause of early education. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner regularly visits families to provide them with strategies to encourage their young children to be successful.
